SUSTAINABILITY

In 2019 our Management Committee formally adopted a sustainability policy for the Club. The sustainability policy recognises the delicate balance between the Natural Environment, Community and Economic viability. Some of the projects we have completed of a “sustainability” nature include

  • Installation of a 40-panel solar PV system
  • Replacement of inefficient air-conditioning system
  • Changing from lawn to a synthetic green (which has a lower maintenance cost and reduces fertiliser consumption etc.)
  • Current project (completed in 2019) is for installation of an automatic sprinkler system. This will improve both the effectiveness and efficiency of watering and reduce the physical impact upon our volunteers.  A perfect bowling green runs fast and true across it’s playing surface and accurate and uniform watering is critical
  • Recycling of:
    • Food waste for chicken consumption
    • Paper and cardboard
    • Deposit based recyclables, glass and plastic drink containers etc.
    • Other non-deposit based glass and recyclables including hard plastics and metals
    • Green waste – leaves and weeds, prunings and branches, lawn clippings etc.

We attend to this recycling on average four times per month
